You should never judge social media by it's url

I've never made a secret of how I feel about social media.

Do I have a facebook account, yes. Do I have a myspace account, yes. But I swore I would never create, operate, or maintain a Twitter account. I had drawn a clear, and absolute line in the sand and it was going to take a force of nature to make me cross it. Turns out it only took a class assignment.

Seriously what is Twitter? Is it not simply your facebook status on crack?...to borrow a phrase I've heard thrown around. The very thought of tweeting leaves me feeling like a royal twit.

I accept that social media is the new way of life...that it's here to stay, but come on...isn't this sorta overkill?

The truly sad thing about all of this isn't so much that I have sold out and am maintaining a Twitter account in exchange for grades...sigh...it's that I seem to be enjoying it..:(

I've come to enjoy the quirky chirp my PC makes when my newly downloaded tweet deck informs me that I have a new tweet to read.

I may have gone kicking and screaming, but ...I proudly embrace the twit I've become. So much so in fact, I have offered to help friends and associates learn how to create their very own twitteriffic accounts.

It all just goes to show, you should never judge social media by it's url.

Til my next post,

b.sweet til next time.
